The wedding cake is one of my favorite parts of the wedding. I don’t believe in shoving the cake into a dark corner or “wheeling” it out for cake cutting time. I think when you’re spending a MINIMUM of 600 bucks a pop for these babies, they need their own linen, lights, green room, and personal assistant. Light it lift it, love it. Your cake is part of your décor, don’t put ‘sugar’ baby in the corner.
More and more, we are seeing hand painted cakes becoming more and more popular. I have to say.. I have a love/hate relationship with these true works of art… First of all, I can’t even imagine the amount of labor (aka cha ching) that goes into each one of them. However, I’m sure Thomas Kincaid spent a ton a time on his paintings, doesn’t mean I will be hanging them in my home anytime soon-ish. What I am trying to say, is that if this art isn’t done right, it could look like
‘April Cornell’ on her worst day ever.. BUT- when its done right, I really really love it! Here are a few hand painted wedding cakes I found, that I adore!
Love the mix of sugar and hand painted flowers in the one above!
Borderline April Cornell-ish
This one is my fave.. I think the anemone’s are tissue paper.. so fab.
In conclusion. If you’re thinking about choosing a hand painted cake beauty for your wedding, make the pastry chef, sketch that action out for you before the BIG day! Hope you’re having a fabulous holiday season my bitches. Xo

As I ‘come down’ from my Birthday disaster .. I do have to apologize for not blogging Monday, but I needed a few days to reflect on the trauma from this past Sunday. Between my mother nearly blowing up my accountant’s office trying to microwave a foil wrapped frozen cheesecake (I hate cheesecake BTW, and I specifically asked for no chubby treats) and my birthday dinner being hijacked by a very drunk waitress who repeatedly spilled drinks and food the entire duration of the meal, I can officially write off my 31rst Birthday as one of the worst birthday’s ever (We all have one, right?). What I can’t write off, are my amazing friends. Each, who showed up and tried to make my evening really special, regardless of the series of unfortunate events. After we left the restaurant ( name of whichI will not mention) AND after I turned all ‘Atlanta housewives/Sybil’ on the drunk waitress, my friends did everything in their power to make the rest of the night completely awesome. A big ol’ thank you to Nina, Meg, Bruce, Carolyn, Melissa, Jasmine, and Ann. I love you all to pieces and I honestly don’t know what I would do without you! THEY are the reason why my emergency appointment with my therapist didn’t end up being the best part of my day!
OK, I can’t just talk about me all the time… Below is a really sweet wedding we designed the floral for. Holly and Jason were the sweetest couple and I am in love with all the neutral toned blooms we incorporated into their wedding. The floral stand outs included; cream peony, Sahara roses, white hydrangea, baby blue eucalyptus, silvery dusty miller, wild scabiosa, blush dahlias, and velvety lambs ear. The reception was actually supposed to take place in an open field behind the back yard of this amazing estate (umm hello?? playboy mansion much?) but the valley winds picked up and they moved dinner inside. Thank goodness, the property had that massive living room! I loved the way the tables looked. I thought the military rows were HOT!
I was allllll about this estate… As I walked the grounds, I admired how quiet and peaceful it was.. I never thought I would want a wine country wedding, but I kind of started to dig it.I love working at all venues but a farm or a ranch wedding wouldn’t be my personal preference for my big day, though I love it for a lot of my clients. This particular wine country estate was no farm, lovies, it was Gucci Gooch. A huge pool, several wings,( I could put my crazy family on the whole other side of the house and it could feel like they were down the street), mountain views, a movie theater, a gym … all of a sudden, out of NO where, I hear a hissing sound…. Then I hear a rattle…. Then I see something slither out of the corner of my eye… I heard someone scream “snake!” and I was OUT of there.. I don’t care if that estate came with Brad Pitt 10 years ago himself, MY ass is at the Four Seasons!
Thank you Maharaj Photography for the beautiful images!

The holidays and my birthday always put me in a weird mood … I have refrained from putting up a picture of “The Grinch” this year as my facebook profile picture because people always get weird and judgy and I don’t have the energy to deal with it. All week I was finding myself SUPER sensitive, a little depressed, and really moody. I tried to blame it on a number of things… For example, I didn’t book a wedding I really wanted… OR, I kicked my diet up a notch and was feeling hungry and deprived.. THEN, I only lost a half pound at my ‘weigh’ in this past week… It finally hit me, it wasn’t really any of those things. I was upset about turning 31 at the end of the week.
Yesterday, as I was walking into 19 blue hair salon to get my Hurs did, I started to cry…I THOUGHT it was because it had been nearly two months since I was able to get to the salon and I was in utter shock I was actually doing something nice for myself (enter violins). I looked like a chubby Mexican-Cruella-skunk-90’s-strung out raver. NOT cute.
Ann (my stylist) has been doing my hair for 8 years and I love her more than anything. She schedules my appointments afterhours , serves me wine, makes me laugh like crazy, turns my Mexican hair platinum, and just all around rocks my world. Anyway, with help from a few bottles of red, two fab gays and Ann, It kicked off my birthday weekend and got me actually excited about turning 31. So, I broke my diet again, but I always have next week .. AND a whole year of being 31 to kick ass. So BRING it on BITCHES
On another note.. Tiffany, one of NLC’s awesome team members, found these awesome lollypops! They are all handmade and come in delicious flavors such as mulled wine punch, Lavender Salted Caramel, gingerbread martini, fruitcake, peppermint hot chocolate and eggnog! One of my favorite things to do when I needed a “pick me up” was go to a movie (or “the show” as my aunt Cheryl used to call it. I am so bringing that back this year) by myself. I would sit in the theatre snacking on warm popcorn and let my brain relax and release every worry or tension that had overwhelmed me earlier that day. During some of my most stressful times, it was the one place I felt at peace. Since my new healthy lifestyle change, ONE of the things I really miss is going to a movie and indulging in my favorite snack. I miss my favorite food so much that I decided that I am going to treat myself to a popcorn themed wedding when I marry one of my husband options pictured below AND I decided not to waste one more second and create an inspiration board for my day…
JUST in case either of them decide they can’t live another day without me and pop the question ; P
When I do picture my wedding.. It is always in Santa Barbara, with lots of food (popcorn and steak of course), vodka, and pretty flowers.. Oh and whatever my husbands ’to be’ want to throw in there! Ha ha
I LOve this popcorn dress… So much I want to EAT it! haha Maybe I should get an extra b12 shot this week! lol

Ok…After a little baby slip in my diet last week with wine and few other cocktails.. I am proud to be back on the skinny fierce bitch wagon! Unfortunately, it has put me in a skinny bitchy mood and all I want is a Snickers bar! Isn’t the first week back from falling off the wagon, the absolute worst? I have no idea how recovering drug addicts do it? ANYhoo, I was sipping my bland morning tea while perusing the blogs this AM, and realized that I think I may have missed an “up and coming” wedding trend as I was starving myself. BOWLING shoes for the groom and groomsmen??? WT*bleep*? I am sorry, but this is NOT OK. One of the only reasons I don’t bowl is because of these shoes! I thought people only wore them because it was the rule and you had to! Please note, I realize that I am not claiming to be the “trendiest “ or “coolest” person in the world, but I don’t know if I could ever get behind this. Just like I can never get behind Chris Brown’s music. Sorry for the bitch seshhh, bitches. UHG, give me a donut, uhhh I mean a glass of water.
