Nico here! Everyone knows I started out my design career as a florist. As my career has led me to many different avenues of design, flowers will always be my first love. Today I wanted to introduce you to a few fun and spooky blooms to introduce into your Halloween decor.
The “Amnesia” rose is one of my faves.. It’s the world’s only truly “grey” rose. It often gets mistaken for being dead. I think its cold and spooky looking, and a must for a gravesite offering….
The Lady slipper orchid looks deadly and sexy at the same time. Its Goblet shaped mouth makes it look like it’s a bloom from another planet. Though it looks like its going to spit venom at you, it is actually as harmless as harmless gets..
Black fuzzy protea are really fun to design with. I love how their petals look like tarantula legs!
This is crazy, isn’t it??? It is often referred to as the “ghost orchid” or “bat orchid” . I think the name and image says it all!!
Man eating plant??? Well not exactly “man” eating, but definitely carnivorous. The Cobra Lilly enjoy noshing down on flies, spiders, beetles and any other victim that makes it way into its open trumpet of death.
The black succulent is another fave of mine… The color and texture just “kill” me!
I always here from my clients how “common” roses are.. Well, do you think this is common? With no surprise this rose is called “Hocus Pocus”. How fabulous are its blood-red petals with lightening bolt yellow streaks?? AND No, it is not dyed.
Last but certainly not least, check out this “wicked” looking octopus of a plant that actually grows with OUT soil! It thrives on air and mist. Tillandsia is its name and a few of them dropped into an apothecary jar would look amazingly fabulous.
Hope you found a few additions for your Halloween decor, My creative juices are already bubbling! Happy Haunting Goblins and bitches , oh I mean witches…
